A recent opinion piece by a group of diverse medical student leaders highlights the danger of the SCOTUS potentially eliminating years of progress in improving the diversity of the medical student population and the cultural humility of the physician workforce. The authors argue that diverse student groups have a critical role in influencing the cultural humility and curriculum of medical schools and the medical population at large, and that the building of cultural humility is key to improving health outcomes for all communities and addressing health disparities disproportionately affecting underrepresented groups.

Black people have always been at the forefront of caring for our community and in-fact all of humanity. Despite the challenging circumstances, this is who we’ve always been. These trailblazers have paved the way for future generations of aspiring Black doctors and have inspired us at MedReimagined to continue our mission of helping Black and brown students reach their full potential in the medical field.
